Cymatic is projection mapping on the facade of the Bolshoi Theatre. The concept is rooted in cymatics: the visualization of sound waves as geometric patterns.
Classical architecture becomes a surface for generative visual content. Crystalline structures and wave patterns grow through the columns and reliefs, turning the facade into a living screen.
The projection works as a dialogue between architecture and sound: the geometry of the building reinforces the rhythmic logic of the visuals, while the cymatics patterns respond to the spatial scale of the theatre.

The columns, reliefs and portico of the Bolshoi Theatre become elements of the visual composition. The mapping works with the architectural relief: the projection is not laid over the building but built into its geometry, reinforcing every volume and shadow.
The show’s content is built on the principles of cymatics — the visualization of acoustic frequencies as geometric structures. Crystalline patterns shift in real time, following the musical score. Each note has its own geometry.
The theatre square in front of the building becomes an open-air auditorium. The projection works over a long distance and reads as a large-scale street show — without the usual frame of a screen or stage.
Working within the Supervisuals and Global Illumination team. The area of responsibility was creating part of the visual content for the show: not the whole project, but specific scenes and elements.
Translating the principles of cymatics into visual material: wave and crystalline patterns that map onto the facade. Every frame keeps the link between acoustic frequency and geometry.
The visuals were made with the architectural relief of the Bolshoi Theatre in mind: columns, portico and volumes are part of the composition. The content was fitted to the mapping and the scale of the square.
